We have talked about the marketplace responding positively or negatively to a business’s proposition, thus giving the business accurate feedback on what the people want. But there is a form of interference that disrupts accurate market signals – government subsidies.
Would people buy so many solar panels if they weren’t largely paid for by other taxpayers? Would we want so many soybeans? Natural gas wells? Not likely.
Are businesses that provide alternatives to these things destroyed because the market (people) are going for the subsidized goods that are artificially cheap? Yes.
Are people paying more in taxes because of an endless list of things that the government subsidizes? Yes.
Our free marketplace is not really a free market with such coercion, is it?
These things are both artificially cheap and temporarily cheap! Sooner or later the “piper must be paid.” When will we run out of other taxpayer’s money?
Connecticut taxpayers will have to answer this, especially when the highest taxpayer begin leaving the state.
What about a federal debt of nearly $20 trillion dollars?

I learned not to model my business on a government that can’t even balance a budget. I know people in the government who are discussed with the programs.
