The other is to tell stories about the future, encourage, believe, train, nudge, invite, smile, ask and create the conditions necessary.

“Tell stories about the future” – That’s really interesting. My style is to give people responsibility and authority- But I rarely describe the future other than a generic goal of making the company “the company we know it can be”. I’ll try “telling stories about the future” and being more specific about what the future looks like if we are successful.

Within the past couple years, we have been working hard to follow the encouragement and motivational method.
However, it seems there are those 5% of folks that only respond and understand the bossy approach.
With some additional effort on our part, perhaps we will find a more motivational approach for these types.
