Humanity is part of the natural world on earth, but cannot defy its laws. Chemistry, geology, weather, physics, and cause and effect of the sciences will not change because we feel good or bad about how they affect our personal lives, or how intensely we feel these emotions.
We must be aware and make the best long term personal decisions we can, and face the consequences of our choices.
This reminds me of one of our Unitarian principles:
Respect for the inter-dependent web of all existence, of which we are a part.
“I am responsible for my own actions”
