(I leave you to think about this one, because when you don’t think deeply about it, you’ll say it’s not true).

Amen Larry ! Candidates for open positions in our company always ask “who’s your competition?” The answer is easy , we don’t have any competition. Nobody does what we do, the way we do it , how we do it or with the passion we do it with.

When I choose to worry about other companies, that attempt to do the services we offer, It takes my energy & my eyes off of our team & ultimately what can we do to be better as an organization of great people. For us to be great we must become better everyday systematically, relationaly, internally and then the outflow to our customers will be amazing and the company and team of choice will always be ours.

Early in my sales career I sat at a meeting with Kraft Foods in Chicago. The VP of Distribution asked how we were positioned for the recession. The President of our company responded with ” we don’t participate in recessions” which drew a smile from all attendees. Since that time I’ve always subscribed to the notion that ” we are the competition and rule our domain!! I have always been the one being chased.

So true! When I think about our Unique Selling Proposition, I don’t think about what makes us different from the competition. Instead, I focus on OUR company, what makes US tick, and what WE can do better than anyone else.
