You can buy time

Larry Janesky: Think Daily

It takes two hours to mow my lawn.  When I hire someone for $____ to do it for me, I am buying two hours. If my time is worth more than what the lawn guy charges, I have made a great purchase. (If I don’t think my time is worth what the lawn guy charges, then I should switch careers and be a lawn guy).

The same when I take my shirts to the cleaners, go to the car wash, or hire someone to paint my house.

What are you occupying your time doing, where you should be buying that time to work on more valuable activities?

I don’t totaling agree that it’s all about the time it takes to mow a lawn. It’s about consistency. Every week you know it’s getting cut and it is done. My household is a struggle getting someone to cut the entire, front and back and edging and blowing the grass left behind. You have to look at the entire picture. Lawn guys don’t get the credit they deserve. They cut in the heat and do it weekly. It’s the peace of mind you are paying for and consistency of it being done.

Well sorry Larry Janesky, not everyone has the fucking blessing as you to afford these sort of privileges. If someone comes to repair my house for $8,000, their time is equal in importance to mine because they are making a profit while they fix the integrity of my house. You’re owner of a basement improvement company, you would think you would understand that?

I would just like to tell all the people who read this particular piece of garbage advice, that you cannot buy time. Time is commodity for all to enjoy. You should occupy your time doing things to benefit yourself and your family, and let those you pay to IMPROVE your lifestyle do their job for their price (and if you don’t like it, go someplace else).
