If you’re goals and expectations are low, most any employess performing in most any way will do. But when you raise your expectations and aspirations for your company, you can now see that their performance is no longer accceptable if these new higher goals are to be met.
Clarify your thoughts first. Then communicate your goals, tell them what you expect, give them the tools to succeed, train them often, and measure results. That should work. If not, you’ll have to replace the employee with someone who is capable of contributing in the way that is necessary for a high performance team to accomplish its goals.
Larry, this is logical, but the logic can be obscured by personal feelings and other “chaff.” I listened to Success magazine’s interview with Simon Sinek on the way to work this morning. If one were to follow his leadership philosophy with the logic of your comments, the effort might become easier and more effective.
Hi Larry, What is your suggestion to an employee who doesn’t have a manager/owner who clarifies, communicates or trains properly and has a turnover rate on average of 1 employee every 2 weeks?
Larry, I hope you and your family are all safe. I wish you all well.
