Firing someone.  You hate to do it.  That’s not what you wanted when you hired them.  But once in a while it’s what’s best for the team – and even for them.  

If you fire someone, do it in a way that they aren’t going to talk bad about you and work against you out there.  Let them preserve their own dignity and reputation.  Be nice – even then.
