If you had a choice to be a genius with bad character flaws or have good character, which would you choose?
The genius will not have many friends and be frustrated that his talents will never be fully appreciated or used because people don’t want to work with him.
The person of good character will have many friends, be loyal and work hard on the right team for the right reasons, and be appreciated and trusted.
Which would you rather be?
Good character? Me too.
Do you think Musk and Jobs could’ve had both? Machiavelli says a leader needs to be feared and respected.
Love and Respect is much harder to garner.
If you are willing, you can learn and adapt to anything. I would definitely choose good character over being a genius every time. Being smart is obviously helpful in the climb to success, but I believe having the right attitude/mind set is the most crucial trait in life.
I appreciate the picture of Lisa Wilder, who served as Contractor Nation’s photographer for several years. She had good character – loyalty, kindness, enthusiasm – and was talented, too! I’m glad I had the chance to work with Lisa. She is missed by many.
Hello, i confirm i am a Genius but that is why i have so many projects stuck in final product, maybe because of my lack of people skills i need to pass that wall.
I have a friend that said to me a long time ago “I will take a person with street smarts over one with book smarts any day.” I agree with him.
I would always go with good character (see? I AM a genius!) Always have gone that route.
One can be a genius and have good character but still not have many friends and be unlikable if he/she is not charismatic. One can have many friends and be likable with charisma and without genius or good character. Perhaps genius and character are not opposite ends of a scale?
