Short answer – yes; if the leader expects to get the best out of them.
Winning and them liking you are not opposites. They are related.
If they like their leader they will give their best to not let you down.
Who wants to perform well for a leader they do not like?
While they may not like some of the changes you try to get done at first, if they like you they will give it a good shot. If they don’t like you, they will “try” and point out how the new change is no good – and even see to it that it doesn’t work.
People like leaders who care about them, believe in their abilities, appreciate them, and don’t insult them.
Do your employees like you?
I am loving our company culture and my connection with my team. It was a long road to get here and feels great! Also, good luck on your race!
This is so accurate! I experienced this in a company I worked for. I saw first hand how the leaders couldn’t get anyone on board because all their employees didn’t actually like them. The one leader there that everyone liked, always had everyone on their team.
Such a good reminder!
