Having someone who we know cares about us, but still calls us on our crap and challenges us to be better is a good thing. You can’t pull anything on this person – and they know when you are making excuses and when you can do better – and they tell you the truth.

Even amongst employees, we are quick to label the person that doesn’t agree with us as “counter-cultural” or “not buying in”. Provided you are approachable, and they are only telling YOU what you don’t want to hear, they might well be your biggest asset.
