I’ve had plenty of adversity in my life, and when I look back now I see it made me stronger and who I am today. In fact, I HAD to go through that to be here.

We all have had adverse situations that shape us in one way or another. I prefer to think of those times as a set up for what’s to come. There are things I would change if I could. Most I wouldn’t change. I am where I am because of where I was. I am who I am because of who I was.
In January 2000, when I was only 18 years old, my dad had a bad fall from our own house that we were building. The fall put him in the hospital for 3 months and he wasn’t able to come back to work for a year. He and I had been working on a historic renovation/remodel and I was his right-hand man. Being a small family business, when he fell out there was no one else to step in. So I stepped in and saw the job to completion. It was a pivotal moment in my life and directed me to where I am now. Up until then I wasn’t sure what I wanted to study in college but that experience solidified my desire to study and work in construction. It was an extremely hard time in my life but it also led me to my wife as well. I am truly much better for the adversity that I had to endure during that time.
I married at 21 while still in college. Working and paying our own way forged a solid relationship that has lasted 47 years so far. Starting with little has given us an appreciation for what we have today and knowledge that happiness trumps material and money, every time and every day.
I have acne, but it put me on the path to eating healthy for my skin.
We all have faced adversity in some way, at some time. You have either beaten it or given in to it. Never quit, never give in! “Every day is a good day, some are just better than others”.
