Ego in management

Larry Janesky: Think Daily

Many managers are employees who did a good job and got promoted to manager.  We all have egos.  Many managers don’t want their direct reports to be better than them at something because they are insecure.

But when you get promoted to managing other people, it’s not about you anymore.  It’s about bringing out the best in your team.  That’s it.

As a manager, it’s my responsibility to find out what it makes to make a person tick and capitalize on that tick. I have always felt that I should be on the look out for my replacement. After all, it’ll make us all more successful in the long run. Don’t be afraid to employ someone better than you!

Hi Larry, thanks for the Good Morning Friday Hi, Good day Monday afternoon to you, sorry I am late with the response, Cord GP was fun Friday but very hard racing guys half my age, looking for a 1980 bike next year to race guys my age. They have a V100 and V110 class which is age of bike and age of rider combined which I should in. Hope your race went well too, so glad we can still have fun with dirt bikes which is usually a young man’s sport but why we got into it in the first place. I know you had fun too, hope all is well, so take care and on to the next journey, thanks so much for the daily words of wisdom, it really helps us see the light, Steve H.
