Satisfying, meaningful happiness

Larry Janesky: Think Daily

“The happiness that is genuinely satisfying is accompanied by the fullest exercise of our faculties, and the fullest realization of the world in which we live.”  – Bertrand Russell

Which would make you happier and feel meaning in your life for more than a few days –

A – Retiring, playing golf, hanging around and drinking beer each day (or your version of this example).

B – Becoming your best self by developing your natural talents and getting better all the time, and making a difference in others lives.

Purpose & Gratitude with some discipline sprinkled in is what works for m.

A healthy combination of doors A & B!

Hands down… Becoming your best self by developing your natural talents and getting better all the time, and making a difference in others lives.

Joshua English

Option B…. I don’t know if option A will ever work for me.

Leo Jette

B

Well as long as my golf improved…but seriously, being retired has given me an opportunity to read more, volunteer more and yes, play golf more. Not nearly as difficult a transition as some had said to me.

Absolutely B!

Patricia Villers

B!

B!

Manolo

Why not a combination of both? Life is not always a black and white decision or a decision between two options. I know there was not a C option, but I would take a C option were A and B are balanced in a intentional and meaningful way. Cheers Larry! I have been reading you daily now for more than a year anz it has been gret experience, a very intentional and meaningful one. Thanks for all what you do for this community.

I’m with Manolo – I don’t see them as mutually exclusive, and if one is not happy, healthy, and enjoying life then are you really getting ‘better’? Richer maybe, but money can only rent, not buy, happiness

Can I still drink the beer with “B”?

Good stuff.

Evan Gilbert

Definitely B!

It’s unfortunate that the “norm” is just retiring and doing nothing, instead of realizing your full potential and helping others.

We have to change this!

Dave Kase

LIFE is a BALANCE of BOTH.

Jeff Saranich

Without a doubt B!

Lisa Pantaleo

Most of my friends have already retired and I can’t wait to be with them. The freedom to go anywhere and do anything on any given day is the reward for working hard your whole life.

Dawn

B. well done
