Creeds – part 2

Larry Janesky: Think Daily

We are exploring Creeds, a personal belief/mission statement.  Here is one from Jack London –

“I would rather be ashes than dust!  I would rather that my spark should burn out in a brilliant blaze than it should be stifled by dry-rot.  I would rather be a superb meteor, every atom of me in a magnificent glow, than a sleepy and permanent planet.

The proper function of man is to live, not to exist.  I shall not waste my days in trying to prolong them.  I shall use my time.”

What kind of ideas would be in your Creed?

I like the ideas in Jack London’s Creed and the ones in Kenneth Clarks from yesterday.

I have a personal mission statement – “An extraordinary life of shared experiences”.

I don’t have a creed yet, but my Creed would include “I believe that all people have far more potential than they are using and we need others to provide examples, give encouragement and instruction, and help us believe in ourselves to unlock this potential.”

To serve, that is the underlying current that moves my life.

“I shall not waste my days in trying to prolong them. I shall use my time.”
That’s Impactful!

Thanks so much for these words today. My father passed away Monday and I just finished speaking at his funeral about his purpose driven life. He always said, Love God, love your family, and give back any chance you can.
