Don't build your business around you

Larry Janesky: Think Daily

Young impressionable entrepreneurs may see a busy businessperson go through their day with all 9 people reporting to them.  They are “busy”, and keep the employees and the place going.

But they are stuck.  They are at the limit of how many thoughts/transactions/tasks they can process themselves.

They can’t scale.  They can’t even go on vacation.  They can’t leave at all.  They have lost their freedom.

Don’t model these “leaders” unless you want to be like them.

Instead, build your team, empowering managers and other leaders to run it without you.  If your enterprise can’t run mostly without you, you own a job, not a business.

Good Morning back!

timothy Garrett

I am the perfect example of what you are saying today. I designed and developed the Freedom Flag Light which I sell on my web site, I designed a product I call the portable generator outlet which I am sure a lot of people would be grateful to have right now after this terrible storm. Here is my problem, I work a full time job as a maintenance supervisor, by the time I get home from work everyday I am running low on energy and cannot get as much done as I used to. I am stuck in my own self inflicted situation, I am the perfect example of what not to do. But I recently made up my mind, I am seeking partners / investors to help me get my products to the masses. If there is anyone out there interested please contact me. Thanks for your blog everyday Larry it really helps keep me going.

Larry, thank you for this. It comes at a perfect time when I am actively working to transform my “business” into a real business as you described. Thanks for the encouragement!

Well now, that is the same concept that works Raising children. Raise them to be strong and independent instead of needy, to satisfy parents needs to be wanted and needed forever!
