“There ought to be two words for failure; one for failure we learn from, and another for a failure we don’t.” – Dr. Mardy Groethe
Good failure is when we make a mistake or do not succeed and learn how to do it, or learn how not to, and try again smarter. Bad failure is when we make a mistake and do not learn the lesson in it. When we repeat a mistake or internalize it, thinking “I am a failure,” we are not seeing the good in the experience.
Of course, when what happens does not meet our expectations, it can be upsetting, but it is our job to reframe what happens to keep us benefitting from the experience and moving forward.
That’s a great way to look at failure ! Getting better weather here in Chicago too (just rain now). Good time for your barn and dirt bike riding 🙂
Good morning Larry
I believe the word mistake can be the word for a good failure I believe that is what a mistake is and if you’re doing things the right way and you learned from that mistake you won’t do it that way again. And that’s what good failures are designed to do teach us. Thank you again for your words of wisdom every morning Larry have a great day good luck this weekend God bless
My record has only good failures to mark learning. Better way.
I’m working in Houston, Larry. Outside project. Only been here three days and I’m wishing it were winter.97 and sunny doesn’t cut it for me but I’m living my project.
Are they listening to me? Well, I / You have everything they need, but sometimes the delivery may be different depending on where your business is at! Right? Where am I at? I had to ask myself “am I leading through frustration or Vision?” “Am I learning from my Failures, lack of moving forward? So I Fired me and now my steps are 1. Know where you are! 2. Decide what you want and where you want to go exactly. 3. TAKE ACTION! 4. Notice the results your getting! 5. Modify to get the results. 6 Rinse and REPEAT Steps 4 and 5!!!!!!!!!! Never GIVE UP!! I am writing them down hopefully with enough CLARITY! Thank you, Larry
