As the owner of our business, we have put ourselves in the position of leader – the one who calls the shots.
Gone wrong, this leads to “I know everything and you will do as I say.”
This, of course, limits our progress to the boundaries of what we know fairly quickly.
Tame your impulse to be 100% right. Be open to different perspectives.
A leader who is calling the shots should be an aggregator of the best ideas and information they can find, and make decisions based on all they find out, not all they know.
Thank you for the reminder, I am often guilty of this kind of behavior myself.
Through the 2017 business blog for me the goldilock challenge is what stands out the most because, from experience I know that us managers do not spend enough time assessing and motivating our employees to help them grow. And even if we have scheduled development appointments every 3 to 6 months after a while it becomes an automatic process where we just go through the motions without any real results.
I look forward to the emails every morning. Thanks Doug
