Many people think about work as a drag on their energy – a drain. But what if we could do the work in a way that gets us excited? What if we could set out on an obsessive quest to build the coolest darn thing our industry has ever seen – or at least that we have ever seen? Can we do it in a way that excites us and is a source of energy for us?
I think so.
If you dread going to work, consider you’re doing it wrong. Change your mind about what you are really trying to do, get clarity and set new and different kinds of goals that energize you.
Very true!
Great morning in Chicago! Suns up and I’m going to the “ fun and exciting right work” Thanks Larry for SOE and the book “High Performance Habits”
Great class last week!
Aaaaaaamen!
What made me great at my last job was the close relationship I had with my former boss. I was his trainee who was super good at reading his mind and providing different perspectives and insights because I knew his weaknesses and I was able to balance them. Also, it made him feel good to teach me about the world. Without mutual trust and respect one can not take advantage of the team spirit.
My body and mind are still getting used to the new work schedule. I do not feel energized but I do my best to adapt. I am going to bed with the chickens to allow my body to rest and I am waking up with the roosters at 4:30. I am still experimenting with the schedule in the morning. I try to stretch, shower, have breakfast, coffee and make lunch before I leave the house at 6 so I can beat traffic booth ways and make it to the trail that goes around the lake before the sun sets. Accounting week is important, monitoring and going over the reports could be fun if there is enough room on the table to spread all the reports out for a close inspection. Without proper accounting the sheets are of balance and the world is a mess. Monitoring and reconciling the accounts at regular intervals is always needed and it is very important. The company I am working at did not have an accountant inspect the accounts in a very long time.
