Smart phone – weapon of mass distraction.
Technology is awesome, but we have to be its master, and not be used by it as a tool for others’ agendas and time frames.
To do great work we have to focus our attention. Try this. Turn your phone off when doing a project, then put it out of sight. Then focus that incredible brain of yours on a high value task for an uninterrupted period.
Try it. Call a WMD treaty and focus.
Hey Larry

About WMD
This is one of my biggest problems with employees. How do we keep them off of their phones through your the day? I am not opposed to letting them use the phone when needed. But they still use it to excess checking Facebook ect…. nothing to do with their job, just a distraction
How do you handle phones in the work place? Especially in the field. Office people don’t seem to abuse this privilege
Thanks for the conference in your new awesome offices
Ps the tree house is unbelievable, Bill was too
Kind regards
Matt Gallagher
I thought of your teachings about discerning what is best/ focusing/ always growing while reading the Bible this weekend:
“And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ”
Philippians 1:9-10
SOOOOOO True !!! There are times when I dont even realize Im being distracted . Ill be working on something and without even thinking about it I pick up the phone and start browsing through it . I couple months back I started a tradition with my wife and children . One day a week (usually Sunday ) we have no electronics day for the whole day . The only exception is we can use the actual phone part of our devises , to talk with far away family . Its no secret to most people that these things can be poison . A few weeks back in our meeting you touched on that fact (in so many words) . It was a great reminder and reopened my eyes to pay attention to my habits as well as the members of my house hold . I read your messages everyday without fail and in one way or another they usually relate . But I absolutely LOVE when they touch home and I can share with my family . Thank you for what you do !
This is absolutely the truth about cell phones. They are a huge distraction and if you are texting etc then you are not focused on your job. I have been working at Basement Systems for 6.5 years and never once did I sit at my desk and text.
Thank you for all you do Larry!
