To get the most out of people, they have to like their jobs. For them to like their jobs, they have to like their immediate supervisor/manager. To like their manager, the manager must care about both the result the group is trying to achieve, and the people on the team.

People know if you care about them.  You listen, you teach, you encourage, you believe in them, you challenge them to do and be more, you recognize them, and you smile at them.
