Honor

Larry Janesky: Think Daily

Honor – What a word!

“On my honor…”

To me, the word honor means a lot.  If you are to have your honor, then you-

Must keep your promises.

Must be trustworthy – even when nobody is looking.

Must do your job well.

Must live up to your obligations and responsibilities.

Must be kind.

Must be true to yourself and use your talents to serve others.

Must NOT be unkind to yourself (Health, well-being) so that you may do your best.

Did I miss anything?  What do you think?  Tell me with the orange comment button.

Thank you for sharing about the wing! Very cool! Venice, St. Mark, the Good News and travel. But with everything your good works have meant to me in this last year, I immediately thought of Hermes the messenger and the Phoenix. Thank you! 🙏

That’s cool about the wings. All too often folks say “can’t” when what they really mean i don’t know how.

Cindy

You must keep what others tell you in private to yourself

As to honor… One must avenge any insult, no matter how slight.

As in the Scout promise…I Honor

In order to have Honor we must be “honor-able”, i.e. able to be honored. That requires all of the things that you mentioned and more. I would add “respect for others” high on that list. Respect for other’s positions in life, Respect for their accomplishments, Respect for their impediments, Respect for their strengths, Respect for their weaknesses, etc, etc… We can not be seen and known as honorable if we do not treat others with respect. Our Honor must include “Respect for others”.

Preston Bealle

In all cases where you think “do the right thing”, it’s apparent what that is. I would consider honor to be the same.
