Do you have ADD?

Larry Janesky: Think Daily

Many people have it.

Their lives are not what they could be because of it.

It’s so sad.

ADD.

Adventure Deficit Disorder.

When was the last time you went on an “adventure”?  That doesn’t mean traveling to the next state to sit by a pool.

It means when you try something where you don’t know the outcome exactly…you go somewhere very different – out of the box for you…or maybe you have a goal to help someone but you have to gather resources and get uncomfortable…or you go into the wilderness and explore…

A real adventure is one you are a little nervous about but you put yourself out there anyway.  One you really look forward to it and you can’t stop talking about it afterwards.  It stretches you.  You become a different person.

Do you have at least one real adventure planned for this year?

Tell us what it is in the comments!

Filled with ADD. I have both types 😁
Last year we did the treacherous Half Dome and Mount Washington hike.
This year it is Macchu Picchu. Devils landing and Angels Landing.
Looking forward!

Climbed Mt Elbert last summer while a two-week solo road trip across the US. Planning on another solo trip to Colorado again this year for more Rocky Mountain adventures. I can’t sit still for too long though so lots and lots of weekend adventures to upstate NY for solo hiking/camping. Who wants to plan a trip?

Had a mini adventure this past weekend; a winter backpacking trip in the Great Smokies National Park. Enjoyed hours long slog up long steep climbs through steady rain, while hiking in snow. Some tricky creek crossings through disturbed landscape from Helene. Balancing low pack weight and just the right clothing for the weather. 31 miles and 6500′ of climbing. Next is a cultural and educational trip to Cuba. Bucket list trip, but a bit out of comfort zone, as is just about every country I visit.

Currently training for a Green Beret Fitness event in May in the Pisgah National Forrest in NC. 26 +/- miles in under 10 hours is my goal, you have to finish in under 12 or you are DNF. A little scary for sure.

I will be attempting my fifth international dirt bike rally, the Morroco Desert Challenge, in April. It’s eight days and 3,200kms across rocky river beds and giant sand dunes, and it will be my toughest endurance challenge yet!

As a photographer, I am naturally drawn to adventure and chasing “the action”. In January I jumped on tour with an up-and-coming musician. 4 shows in 5 days across 3 states, 6 people transported in 1 beat up van. Sold out a few shows, woke up on an island in the middle of Lake Champlain, pushed the tour van up Mount Snow in a 10″ blizzard, and my work is already helping to sell his next run of shows through an IG/FB/Web campaign. 2025 started strong and my search for the next adventure is on.

Machu Picchu in Peru 5 day hike. 15,000 feet up and training to try to reduce the risk of altitude sickness. Very exciting!
