People are watching the leader. If the leader is always assigning blame for things that go wrong or just aren’t as good as they could be, they will hide and not engage for fear of making a mistake. If the leader takes all the credit when things go well, it will not endear people to him/her, and high performers will likely not stay.
Give away the credit and take the blame.
Besides, if you blame others you give your power away. Don’t give your power to change away.
Who do you need to give credit to today?
What responsibility (response-ability) do you need to take today?
I want to give credit to my incredible team, and a special shout-out to Josh English, who has been a cornerstone at Keystone for over 16 years. So much of the success and progress we’ve seen is a direct result of his leadership and dedication. We are truly fortunate to have such a talented and committed general manager steering the ship for the last 16+ years.
How does that feel to you? It highlights the team’s effort while giving Josh a deserved spotlight for his long-term contribution.
Phenomenal perspective!!!
Love this! This is the best lesson a business owner can ever learn.
