The purpose of marketing is to get leads the sales team can sell, right? But consider this –
“The purpose of marketing is to make selling unnecessary.” – Peter Drucker
What if your marketing was so good you didn’t need salespeople? Or if it made it very easy on the sales team? Think about that.
What can you do in marketing to make it so compelling that people want it badly before they meet your salespeople, or to presell what you have as much as possible?
Good perspective this morning – as always! I’ve always operated under the premise that good Marketing will increase the demand for the product or service. LInked to this is the need to get the order. This requires salesmanship. To the extent that competition increases to supply the good or service, the role of the salesperson to articulate the value proposition of your unique offering is key.
I think Great Google reviews are an essential marketing tool for setting the stage for sales, 5-6 years ago we did not pursue reviews so of course all we got were the negative ones from people who were displeased. We work very hard now to to earn and get great reviews (over 1,000 now with an average of 4.9). Customers notice and so do the employees who earn them. We celebrate the 5’s all the time. We are having a 4900 happy hour Friday, 4.9 x 1,000 = 4,900. 🙂
