This is how you got to be you.
You were born with certain onboard attributes. That you had no control over. THEN –
It’s what you learned +
The environment(s) you were in +
The people around you +
The decisions you made +
What happened to you +
The story you tell yourself about what happened (which is ongoing).
This all adds up to your current –
Beliefs and Expectations, which shape
Your Thinking, which causes
Your Actions, which determine
Your Results.
That’s how you became you.
If we want to get better results, we need to change the inputs. You can change –
1) What you Learn
2) Your Environment
3) The people around you.
4) The story we tell ourselves.
What inputs can you improve to get better?
Perfect timing, Larry. Thanks!
Have a Great Weekend!
I like and share your perspective. I had a really rough start in life. It’s important to not let other people define who we are! At a certain point it becomes our fault. Good or bad.
I completely agree. When all of those four points are in positive territory that’s when some might say “the stars are aligned in our direction”. Take any one of those points and put it in severe negative territory and we will stall out unless we have extreme powers of perseverance. Sometimes we don’t have a choice in 1-3 but we always have a choice in #4. What we tell ourselves will overcome the negatives in the other territories if we tell it right and often enough.
I have to chime in on this one, because self talk is a huge stumbling block for many people today.
He has a sample of one of my many morning self talk’s:
Trouble knocking at my door today?
I ain’t gonna let it in..
And worry wanna steal my joy away
But I ain’t gonna let it win..
Cause on my best day, I’m a child of God
On my worst day, I’m a child of God
Oh, every day is a good day
And You’re the reason why
I’m so blessed.
Got this heartbeat in my chest
No, it doesn’t matter about the rest
I’m so blessed.
