As I grow older, have tried more things, and have more experiences, I see things more clearly.
I also see things faster than it used to take me. New things start rhyming with old things.
One thing I understand is that my role as a leader makes all the difference. I have competition – private equity companies. They have a lot of money. But one thing they don’t have is me. In fact they don’t have anyone like me because when they buy a company the leader takes the money and leaves. It’s only a matter of time until the bankruptcy of good intentions and spirit matches the performance of the business.
If you can improve yourself to meet the demands of your business and leading others, you have something nobody can ever match or take away.
You.
And in the end, being the best person you are capable of in service to others is what matters.
As long as you are breathing, you can still get better.

This message really hits home as my previous life, and an opportunity to work for the evil empire spoke volumes about company character. When a company does not have a soul it makes it difficult to go to work everyday and pretend. Larry you allow all of us to do the right thing every time. Our moral compass never changes. I have always considered myself a jack of all trades and never liked the quote master of none. But after reading your Think Daily message today I googled the quote and found this: “A jack of all trades is a master of none, but oftentimes better than a master of one.” While many people associate the term “jack of all trades” with negativity, it was never meant to be a negative. It was actually a compliment. It’s funny how quotes often get shortened to have a negative connotation from the never the true meaning. The world seems to favor the negative over the positive. Not me! I feel I’ve been able to learn a broad range of things in my life and I’m always seeking to learn more. And I’m always looking for the good/positive in life and people.
I appreciate your book suggestion and will seek it out. Thanks for a great message and for helping me learn something valuable today.
Hi Larry! I watched your movie on YouTube into the dust years ago and I just loved it. Life long motorcross rider with a bad relationship with my dad. There was many things about you, your son, your life and career that inspired me. I then saw your entrepreneurial daily motivation and self improvement daily messages and subscribed right away. I read them, literally every morning. Every single one of them for the last couple years or so.
