You got a Big Ol' But

Larry Janesky: Think Daily

We all have self-imposed limitations.

I would go for it (take the next step up, learn a key new skill that will take me to the next level, go somewhere awesome, reach out to ________ , make amends with ________ , forgive __________ , ) BUT…..

Your big But is something you made up and accepted.

Your but is not real unless you say it is.

Did you put your but in the way of you?

Larry, you crack me up. “Hey, you have a big ol’ but, Heh!” I see Ohio is well-represented this morning. I’m in Columbus, in Heating-Ventilating-Air Conditioning. A subscriber for over 7 years, I enjoy your daily nudge for improvement, or contemplation of “Why do you do that?” I like your racing stories, very relatable on the process of preparation, trial and error, “thrill of victory and sting of defeat.” I appreciate you, Mr. Janesky.

Matt Whisenant

Hello from Holly Springs, NC. I signed up for Think Daily when I joined the Gutter Shutter family about a year and half ago. I read both every morning.

I’m brand new to the company (about a month) and look forward to the thoughts of the day. Too many times we just jump into our daily tasks and don’t spend enough time just taking a deep breath and think for a moment. They always give me that moment. Really important tool in our daily tool bag. Thanks Larry!

Aaron Hershberger

It’s great to recieve encouragement ever morning! Thanks!

Preston Bealle

I’ve been subscribing for almost a year and the comments are relevant and wise. Sometimes I forward them, like the one about taking responsibility for everything in your life instead of blaming others.

Megan Rucker

Subscriber for yrs. Have passed this email to many of my employees and friends who have subscribed. This has created another way for my leadership team to call each other out by sending anything that relates to me/us. When you turn on your device to read the morning thought and see it twice it is a deeper wake up call to your self awareness. Thanks Larry.

Red

Good morning from Buffalo, NY!!
Always look forward to my daily dose of Think Daily!

I am new to Think Daily and in my initial sales training at Comfenergy in Sterling, VA. Think before you speak! Be focused and kind while helping folks solve their comfort issues. The supporting tools with Contractor Nation are awesome and super helpful. Think Daily, like Pop-of-the-Day, are great venues to get my day started in a positive and focused manner. Thanks!

Trevor Burlison

I’ve had a big BUT lingering over me for many years. Mine is “I want to leave my corporate job consulting financial advisors and start an advising business on my own. But, I could hang on two more years and then it’ll be a better time.” I threw that BUT out the window and my last day at the corporate job is July 28th. In other words, the first day of my entrepreneurial journey starts July 28th. No more BUTs. Time to go for it!

Michael Delmolino

Hello from Ct! I have been a subscriber from the start- its a great way to start your day with this community. It may be new information, a new take on something you know, something you were not ready to hear before, or an affirmation on the direction you were going. Take time before responding either in writing or verbally as everyone is fighting their best fight and we all have challenges we are working with, the best is yet to come!

Hello from Canada !
i been subscribe for 1 year, very good comment to thinks about yourself.
Long life to Think Daily!

Matt Miller

Hi from Northwest Pennsylvania! Iv’e been a subscriber for approx. 2 years now and look forward to the daily messages. Something that I’m learning and trying to improve in is to not listen to the pessimists. I’m in a very volatile market and when business is difficult and everybody is talking about how bad it is it starts negatively affecting my decisions if I focus on the “now” and not on “how” I can use the downturn to my advantage. Thinkdaily helps me to keep my focus on the right path! Thank you!

Ron Dyer

Good morning from Mid-State Basements in Columbus, OH. I really enjoy the morning Think Daily’s and make it part of my morning routine. The most powerful tool all of us have is between our ears. Your mind can make or break a person. Here is an interesting “hack”. If you are not feeling 100%, force yourself to smile for 30-seconds. Strangely, your mood will improve almost instantly. Have a great day all!

Jill Motta

I never miss Think Daily and Think for Businesspeople. These inspirational and motivational messages get me in the right headspace to take on the challenges of the day.

J.Kay

Good morning all,
It’s a great day to be a great day, Let’s Make it a Great Day.

I have been a subscriber since day one.
What do I get out of think daily, well it’s right in the title. It makes me “Think Daily” …. Every message makes you Ponder a thought!

It may create a thought or an idea of something that I had been working on and yet other times it’s a random seed planted that grows and leads to more thoughts and ideas.
Thank you Larry, it’s been a blessing to be able to have coffee with you every morning!
Great job my friend keep it up!
J.Kay

Someone else mentioned how relevant and timely the messages are. I’ve long said the same and have heard this from others as well. How does he know? How does Larry know, in advance and on a schedule, what people are facing and need to hear at that particular time? I’m still not sure, but it’s part of the magic of Think Daily. Love you, brother!

You can either live with the pain of discipline or with the pain of regret. And nobody likes regret. Be mindful of what enters your body. You are what you eat could easily be translated to you are what you consume. The food you consume shapes your body, but what your brain consumes shapes your knowledge, character, emotions, and at the end of the day it’s going to shape your life. So decide who you want to be and make it happen!
Happy Monday and thank you for the daily insight, Larry!

Growing as a person and as a company requires continuous learning, adaptability, and a strong sense of purpose. Here are three pieces of advice for achieving growth in both aspects:

1. Embrace a growth mindset:
As an individual: Adopting a growth mindset means believing that your abilities and intelligence can be developed through dedication and hard work. Embrace challenges, learn from failures, and see them as opportunities for growth. Continuously seek new knowledge and skills to improve yourself.

As a company: Foster a culture that encourages a growth mindset among your employees. Provide opportunities for learning and development, support innovation, and promote a sense of curiosity and experimentation. Encourage employees to take on new challenges and reward their efforts to learn and improve.

2. Be adaptable and open to change:
As an individual: Life is full of uncertainties and changes. Embrace them with an open mind and a willingness to adapt. Embracing change can lead to new opportunities and personal growth.

As a company: The business landscape is constantly evolving. Be prepared to adapt to new market trends, customer preferences, and technological advancements. Encourage flexibility and agility within your organization, so you can quickly respond to changes and stay ahead of the competition.

3. Define a clear purpose and set goals:
As an individual: Understand your values, passions, and long-term objectives. Set clear personal goals that align with your purpose. Having a clear sense of direction will guide your decisions and actions, leading to personal growth and fulfillment.

As a company: Define a compelling mission and vision for your company. Identify core values and goals that drive your business forward. Ensure that every member of your team understands and aligns with the company’s purpose. Setting specific and achievable goals will keep everyone focused and motivated, driving the growth of the company towards its intended direction.

Remember, personal and company growth is a journey, not a destination. It requires continuous effort, dedication, and a willingness to learn from successes and setbacks along the way.
