"He liked people and it showed"

Larry Janesky: Think Daily

Leaders who are loved, have power when they need it, and leave a legacy are ones who like people.

Not just “their people”.  Not just “people like them”.  Not just the top performers.  Not just people that can do something for them.

They like people. They are for people.

Do you like people?

Would people say so?  Do they?

Lawrence

Yes good morning to Ayer’s my old company.

I believe that I might qualify as someone who does like people and I have heard others say so, but that is not why I am responding. The subject of liking people can be a slippery slope. One thing is for sure….in the world as I perceive it today, liking people and showing it can make you stand out in a crowd. Recently I was in a long line at a bakery and a woman completing her transaction at the counter, was heading for the door with her hands full of cake boxes. I stepped out of line to get the door for her. Mission accomplished I turned to get back in line and everyone was staring at me…and then applauded. At that moment I was confused. How could such a simple act of getting the door for someone generate such a reaction? Took a moment to remember that it was my Dad who deserved the thanks for teaching me to be a gentleman. That act of kindness made me 9 new acquaintances that morning. The world is hungry to like and be liked.

Grateful for you, too, Larry. Keep writing, my friend.
