Invest in YOU.

Larry Janesky: Think Daily

Last week I made a joke that I’d start charging ten cents a message unless you referred someone else to Think Daily.

One person commented that it was enough for them to unsubscribe. (I’d bet they paid for a college education).

Many people say they want to get better.  They will attend a free training at work when they are getting paid to attend.  But when it comes to spending a dollar to invest in themselves, that’s where they draw the line.  At the same time, they will buy lots of things that go down in value.

Years ago I learned (on an audio program I spent good money for) to invest in lots of things that go up in value, and less in things that go down in value.

Things that do down in value – cars, clothes, furniture, most “stuff”….

Things that go up in value –  real estate, shares of good companies that are projected to continue growing into the future, my OWN business, and most importantly – my education.

In fact, Brian Tracy suggested I spend 10% of my income on my own education.  Darren Hardy recently suggested if you can’t afford 10% then you should probably spend 20%.

An investment in your own education will pay for itself many many times over.  Books, audiobooks, seminars, courses, and classes.  And let’s not forget time spent on the internet finding and reading or watching things that are important to your chosen field – or that orbit around it (if you can help yourself from getting sucked into the “news” or entertainment part of the web.

Invest lavishly in yourself – without hesitation.  It’s the difference between people at the top, and the rest.

“In fact, Brian Tracy suggested I spend 10% of my income on my own education. Darren Hardy recently suggested if you can’t afford 10% then you should probably spend 20%”

This is the smartest thing I’ve read all week.

Thanks for doing this I look forward to it every morning.

Great message, Larry. Literally laughed out loud at, “if you can’t afford 10% then you should probably spend 20%” – great perspective! ?

Thanks as always Larry.
Prior to having my own business, whenever I did a side job on an evening or weekend I would save that money for tools. Each job I did I would buy one good tool that I knew would make me money. When I finally took the leap and went on my own, I had all the tools I needed and was off to the races!! There is no way I could have afforded to purchase all the tools needed for my business all at once. Having this long term goal in mind and chipping away a little at a time, as I could afford, allowed me very good success.

Great day to all!

I’d pay ten cents a message. I’ve referred my son to Think Daily, but most folks don’t appreciate a suggestion that they “improve” because they would like to be considered perfection already!

We have 2 different training protocols at Aire Solutions. The first is required which they are on the clock for and the second is optional which is voluntary and they do not get paid for. I am frequently disappointed in the attendance at the voluntary training.

Phenomenal message. Thank you!

That my friend was a 10X message. Thank you!
Isn’t is amazing when you attend a training / development event that costs money, the ones who really need to be there aren’t.

The comment made about unsubscribing is not surprising and very thoughtless to say the least. I chuckled when I first read the ten cents idea. I said to myself -“that won’t sit right with some” sure enough, I chuckled again after reading today’s message :). Larry – They live amongst us. I believe you once said – there are “doers” and there are followers, which one are you? I read your messages every day and extract what I can apply to my every day – I take advantage of the free lessons/words of wisdom and yes I would pay ten cents a message. Keep”m”coming. Thank you.

Love it! (I got the joke…)

Roy

Unfortunately most people won’t invest in their own success your story was dead on .

That quote by Darren Hardy made me laugh as well! You hit on one of the great advantages that we have in today’s world and that is that practically all knowledge can be found on the internet if you know how to look. However, weeding through the fluff to find the knowledge can be dangerous as you pointed out!
