Has this ever happened – A key position is open and you need someone to fill it fast, and you rush, and fill it with a “pretty good” warm body?
Of course, it’s not the right person and they are in a key seat. Their mediocrity holds the company back and you have another awkward and important problem.
Are you willing to leave a key seat open long enough to find a spectacular person?
Good morning and thank you from Asheville, NC!
This is a great thought and so true. Everyone has done it. It never works out well, but for some reason, we think it might?? We recently had a vacated Service Manager position (within the last year). We didn’t want to put the wrong person in that seat, as it can be a tough one. We split up the duties between 4 other office staff who were happy to help, waited a good 6 months, and ended up with a superstar candidate right there in that group of 4, that we would’ve never expected, as she was a fairly new employee. Kind of a “sleeper”. Score!!
I’ve been on the receiving end of a terrible hire that I had to endure far too long.. On the other hand, I was hired on the same day I had an interview and 20 years later, I’m still here…
Don’t know why but I am not receiving Think Daily anymore!
For some reason I have stopped receiving Think Daily
