Make your job smaller

Larry Janesky: Think Daily

I’ve written about this one before, but it’s a key subject for leaders, especially when your business is growing.

Overwhelmed?

Make your job smaller by giving parts (more and more parts) of it to others.

Reinvent your role.

Give up control but not responsibility.

Make your job smaller and smaller until you can do it well in the amount of time you want it to take.

W. M. Orendorf

In the purest sense, you should be looking for accountability. If you give up control but not responsibility, you can’t have accountability.

Jeff Russell

Three years ago I touched every single aspect of this business every minute of every day (even weekends). Although I still am very involved in the business, these days I am working on the business, instead of in the business. You’ll find out that others can in fact do what you were doing better than you were doing it if you just give it a chance. The difference you can make is remarkable if you just get the time to work on the business!
