Leadership doesn't mean you DO everything

Larry Janesky: Think Daily

You can have authority over an area you are not good at.  That doesn’t mean you have to do the job or lead that department.

You should not do what you are not good at.

Get out of the way and let someone who is better at it than you do the job.

This does not diminish your authority.

Lead other people who are better at things than you, and let them do the job.

Absolutely TRUE

Jeff Russell

This took me a long time to realize.. I was always under the impression that I had to be the best in order to be able to tell someone how to do it. I realize that I have wasted a lot of time trying to be good at something I was never intended to be good at. What a relief!
