“There is no situation in which it is smart to be nasty” – Millicent Fenwick
Despite what you see on TV and social media, being rude, insulting and cutting people down is not good for you, your reputation, and your career.
Heck, it’s not even good for you – you become a defensive, offensive, hard, unhappy human.
Don’t be nasty. State it when you disagree, but do it nicely.
I sincerely try to be my best self and put that forward. There are so many nasty people in the world around us already, why add to it…
Say what you mean.
Mean what you say.
But don’t say it mean.
I agree fully and am grateful that my parents taught me this from a very young age. Because of their example, I have lived a happy and productive life.
While I have learned to be more forthcoming with my thoughts, I almost always put kindness in front of it.
Thanks for the shout out Larry. I really needed it today. And you are so right about being nasty. When I am I ALWAYS regret it later!!
