“A broken bone can heal, but the wound a word opens can fester forever.” – Jessalyn West
You can probably remember the words someone said to you at the right time to hurt you. They are seared into your mind. When you think of that person, you recall how they made you feel.
Do you think there are people out there that feel the same about you?
Do you think they’d line up in your corner when you need help?
Let’s be careful. Pause when you are upset. Don’t speak until you think about the long-term results that your words will have – on them and you.
Hard to pause. Must pause though. All to often anger or being upset tries to trump a persons better judgment.
Taste your words before you spit them out is one expression I try to put into practice..
You are so right about the impact words have on others. We all need to strive to understand and be kind to each other.
Below is from James the brother of Jesus:
James 3:3 Behold, we put bits in the horses’ mouths, that they may obey us; and we turn about their whole body.
4 Behold also the ships, which though they be so great, and are driven of fierce winds, yet are they turned about with a very small helm, whithersoever the governor listeth.
5 Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!
7 For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed of mankind:
8 But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.
