We would rather be right than be corrected with the truth.
Whatever we learn first and accept as the truth, we will defend in the face of any other idea.
Beliefs about ourselves, how the world is, what is possible for us, how other people are…all of it.
Funny, huh?
We’d rather be right, than get it right.
Hold your beliefs loosely, and stay open to new ideas.
I will be doing this rest of my life.
Yes!
I’m with you!
I’ve discovered lots of beliefs I’ve held to be untrue. I imagine most have similar experiences in life. So if we believe in lies, and we “speak our truths”, we are prone to unintentionally telling lies. So, let us speak softly in probabilities and stay open to the Truth.
Hey Larry,
This is excellent advice and I wish a lot more people realized it and followed it. I like to think that I relentlessly pursue the truth, because it’s important for me to “get it (or do it) right”.
Indeed! Wise words;)
