Happiness is your job.

Larry Janesky: Think Daily

Does your happiness depend on other people changing?

That’s a real problem; because it’s not going to happen.

Putting happiness outside yourself is not a good idea.  “When they change.”  “When this happens.” “When I get this.”  “When I find love or respect, I’ll be happy.”

Don’t place control of your happiness in anyone else’s hands.  They aren’t thinking about you, or your happiness.

Happiness is your job.

Thank you for today’s inspirational word. I always wanted to please everybody to make them happy so I can be happy as well. Seeing them happy makes happier. But, when the times that despite I do the best that I can to make them happy and they don’t, it makes me so depressed. Now, I will try not to depend on other’s happiness for me to be happy.

Thank you Larry for your Weekly Words of Wisdom, I look forward to each and every phrase, we need people like you in our lives to see the light and seize the moment. I am retired and do not work anymore but all stages of our lives can be difficult in other ways, thank you so much for being such an inspiration, just like my parents who were school teachers too, Steve H.

I absolutely agree. When I was going through my divorce from my first husband, it took me a long time to realize that I was giving him too much control over my happiness. That was when I decided to choose joy every single day, regardless of what was going on in my life. Happiness comes from within.
