I said "yes", and then it all happened…

Larry Janesky: Think Daily

I feel like I am an unlikely person to have done all this, but in my fifties a most extraordinary adventure of my life took place.  I was never an extraordinary athlete.  Ambition and perseverance were my superpowers, traits I passed onto my son Tanner.

One day I received a harmless little invitation, which I accepted.  I learned of a huge challenge, and I decided to participate.  Being successful in that initial adventure, I learned of and accepted a towering and near impossible challenge.

It’s been 6 years now, and it’s hard to believe what has come of these simple decisions. The “Into the Dust” movie series chronicling these adventures has become a sensation worldwide.  Perhaps because the stories of the Baja 1000, and especially the Ironman class, had never been told to the world in such an intimate way.  Perhaps because the average person can connect with what was really going on.

Now, “Into the Dust 4” is out on YouTube.  This is the final chapter in the series and is its long-time-coming dramatic conclusion.

I know that I could have missed out on such a meaningful chapter of my life by saying “no”, when there wasn;t much on the line and I didn’t know what it would mean either way.  There are such slender connections to new worlds in one’s life, that you wonder what you missed already.

I wonder what the future holds for me along these lines.  What will I say yes to that will open whole worlds to me…

What will you say yes to, that will do that for you?

Jeff stevens.

Witnessing such a monumental event was a highlight of my life. Watching determination of a man bring himself to soul searching excruciating determination to complete a task most would have let overtake them Not our leader. Following such a leader can only make all a Better person. Thank you. !!!

You’re an inspiration for current and future generation of racers. Finding the right balance between our family, our passion (hobbie) and our work could be difficult sometimes. But with perseverance and true ambition, anything can be possible. Thanks for sharing your life with us, an inspiring one for sure.

Your journey has been inspiring, and thank you for turning it into a movie for all to be touched. How about a UTV or Truck?

Bill Cagnacci

Hi Larry,
I’ve just watched your latest movie, Into Dust 4 (in fact watched it twice), and thoroughly loved it as I did with the previous three movies. Very inspirational, thank you.
Question:
1. Why so long before you released this last movie?
2. Where was Tanner? I thought he’d be part of the crew?
3. I know you also recently did the speed trials at Bonneville. Any future motorcycling mountains to climb?
Kind regards Bill.

By saying yes you captured more then a motorcycle adventure you captured a father son relationship, you captured inspiration you captured life!

Wow, what a series of movies Larry, couldn’t have a better ending. Myself a fellow racer through high school, college and all the vet classes of plus 30, 40 and 50 and usually on the podium, I can’t imagine doing what you just accomplished, ultimate stud, in my late 50’s now but only vintage racing now because it is easier and less dangerous, you have gone the opposite way and succeeded, what a hero, congrats, I think you should be the next President of the United States, you would do the World a favour, love your daily words of wisdom also, what a leader, take care and all the best, Steve H.
