Does the real world come from a screen?

Larry Janesky: Think Daily

Joe Polish says this – “If you can be in a sea of pollution and not be polluted, that’s really valuable.”

He says “social media and media is BS”.  I think he means that it does not represent reality.  It’s edited – what people decide to show.

If you are living in this false reality you are handicapped from thinking and doing the things that give you control over a good life for you.

What do you think?  Does the real world come from a screen?

I think social media is a tool that can be used for better or worse. People can stay connected by sharing family photos with friends & relatives. Motivation speakers can post inspirational quotes & pictures. However, news outlets can post fear mongering content or uplifting stories. Just like a power tool, social media is a dangerous tool that needs to be used by the right person for the right purposes.

Yes, it does – indirectly. People interpret what they see on “screen”, and then act accordingly – and their actions create the real world, which comes back on the “screen” again – just to be seen and interpreted again. Does the screen show the real word? No! But it makes the world

I agree! I gave up national news during the Great Recession. Waking up to news of doom and gloom was counter productive to making my sphere as positive and successful as possible. During Covid I gave up personal social media (except for an exercise app). No more FB or Instagram for me as the negative emotional response wasn’t worth being tied in any longer. Especially with recognizing the value of my personal data to those companies and understanding people are purposely trying to sew separation among us.
I have a company that maintains our professional presence.
