When a sticky situation comes along, do you look at what you have said are your values, (the poster on the wall) and speak the words to your team, discuss it, and let the values (predetermined ways to act and decide) prevail?
Don’t a Vision/Mission/ and Values yet? How does your team know who you collectively are and what you represent? Get on it!
Wow! Never thought about it this way…..
We had a poster made with our Vision, Mission, and Values, and hang it on the wall for all to see. When I’m not sure of a situation, I look at the poster and see what our values dictate we do. I also use it in job postings, so that applicants know who we are and what our culture is. It has served us well!
It is critically important to have fixed stars by which to navigate
