Do people pack up at 4:45, and pretend to be doing something, watching the clock, and are pulling out of the parking lot at 5:01?
If your team can’t wait for the day to be over, they probably can’t wait for the job to be over either.
What did YOU (the leader) do wrong?
How are you going to fix your mistake?
As one of my first bosses used to tell me, “there is nothing magical about 5:00”
He inspired me to want to work as long as it took to accomplish the objective. We worked some long days. Every once in a while we would knock off a little early and go do something fun together. I am grateful for Leon Ringenberg.
I was taught at a very young age that early is on time and on time is late! And by a young age I mean 13 years old. I don’t understand the people that show up a minute before work starts or the people that need to run out the door at the end.
Also I am grateful for Frank Dimaria!!!
Our department rarely leaves at 5. We stay until the days work is done and we’re ready for tomorrow.
