Trading up can be a good thing, and is often advantageous. It can be a double edged sword with respect to the impact of the remaining team. Do they understand it and see the possibilities to go to a higher level of performance – versus being paralyzed by fear that maybe they are next. Me personally; I want to be on the best team possible. I’ll go to great lengths to train and develop someone that has potential and demonstrates initiative. Absent that, have to make room for growth.

Before yoh trade player make sure the one you want to bring in compliments the team feels a sense of inclusion and will benefit the team to reach and achieve its goal.
