Loyalty

Larry Janesky: Think Daily

Should people turn their backs on the ones who helped them with their life when they needed it or people who helped them be successful?

If you sell good people out because you will gain something else, is that cool?  Will people continue to want to be on your team?  I don’t think so.

There’s a line between acting in your own interest and turning your back on people who were there for you.  You draw that line.

When you are loyal to people who helped you, they will be loyal to you.

What do you think?

Agreed, You have to demonstrate the values that guide your team in your everyday actions. Loyalty to those who helped you is just one of the actions you can demonstrate.

I think that a full, clear understanding of the term “acting on your own interest” is needed.
If someone sells someone out, they are NOT acting in their own self interest. Being selfish is hard – it requires figuring out what REALLY is in your long term best interest. As it turns out – honest, integrity and in some cases, loyalty are good for you. There isn’t any “line” – those principles work 100% of the time if they are thought of and implemented correctly.
