When people feel “the company cares about me”, they will be far more willing to give their best at work and stay longer. I think we can all agree it’s important for our employees to feel that way.
Who is “the company” anyway? It’s leadership and management mostly, along with the coworkers. So there are two questions here.
1) Does leadership and management care about the people? If not, you have the wrong people running the place.
2) Do you show you care? Do you smile? Do you show concern for people? Do you recognize them? Do you build them up and leave them feeling good about themselves? Do you perform acts of celebration, encouragement, and investment in your people?
People know when you care. Caring is an essential leadership trait.
I completely agree. Caring and Charity are the most important attributes of every human being and they are the ultimate measure by which we will all be judged.
