Your attention goes where your eyes go

Larry Janesky: Think Daily

Let’s say someone put the following objects on your desk (adding to what was already there) – A copy of “Great Vacations” magazine, a Rubics cube, a stack of mail with your name on it, and a folder that said “Special Report”.  You’re sitting at your desk – what are you thinking?

What we see captures our attention and splits our focus.  But we do our best work when we are singularly focused on one task at a time.

The Master Skill of the 21st Century is the ability to focus our attention.

Is it time to clean up the visual noise?  Is it time to put projects/work in queue behind you where you can’t see it, and put the one thing you are working on in front of you?
