"Because"

Larry Janesky: Think Daily

When you add the word “because” people are more likely to comply, agree, and take it seriously.

“Will you come with me?”  “Will you come with me, because I need help?”

“Will you do this by 3:00?”  “Will you do this by 3:00 because I have a client coming in then?”

“Will you give me fifty dollars?”  “Will you give me fifty dollars because I forgot my wallet and have to pay for the pizza?”

“Do you think government spending is out of control?”  “Do you think government spending is out of control because we are $20 trillion in debt already and we are adding $1 trillion to that every year as far as the eye can see?”

Your comment on the national debt and government spending really resonates with me, and emphasizes the need for our elected representatives to get this under control Because:
1. A 1% increase in the interest rate translates to $220,000,000,000 every year just to finance the increase in interest on the debt – assuming we don’t add to it.
2. That equates to $600+ every year for every man/woman/child in the USA just for the increase in interest rates – doesn’t even cover the whole interest payment.
3. That equates to almost $2,500 for every family in the USA every year just to pay an extra 1% – total is much more.
4. The stated national debt of $22,000,000,000,000 doesn’t include any where close to all of our liabilities.

We need to wake up and address this now because if we don’t our children and grandchildren will be crippled with debt. I have to believe our families would rather spend the current $2,500/year on something better than financing the debt.
