A man comes home from a long day at work. He’s tired, frazzled with unresolved issues, and just wants to relax. He sits down in his chair and opens up the newspaper in front of him. Just then his very young son comes over, “Daddy, daddy! Play with me! Play with me!”
The man’s shoulders sag. He just wanted this time to himself. He pauses to think of how he can get out of this. He sees a page in the newspaper with an advertisement that has a picture of the earth from space. He tears it out and into small pieces.
“Here son, get some tape and put this puzzle together.” The boy takes the pieces of paper and goes away. “Surely that will keep him busy for a long time,” the man thinks.
In a remarkably short period of time, the boy returns. “Daddy, daddy, I’m done!” The man shakes his head thinking there is no way he could be done yet. As he turns his head to look, he sees the earth all together – all the continents and oceans in the right place, and right side up.
Amazed, the man asks, “Son, how did you put that together so fast?” “It was easy Daddy, there was a picture of a man on the other side. I just put the man together and the world was all together.”
The man paused and dropped his shoulders. He began slowly nodding his head, and marveled at his son.
Fantastic and thought provoking story!
Ha! I like that! Reminds me of a story of my 92 year old neighbor. I would see him in the early AM as I would arrive at one of the houses I was building on our block. I would ask “ how are you Howard?” his response was always…” any day I wake up 6 feet above ground …it’s a great day !” Right after that saying, he would always repeat….” and remember Bob…. there’s always more than one way to get to Disney” took me a while to understand what he was saying :))
Sunny and bright morning in Chicago after 5 days of rain! Good morning CT!
Made my day, you did.
Thank you.
