Borrowing happiness from tomorrow

Larry Janesky: Think Daily

I heard somewhere that drinking alcohol was like “borrowing happiness from tomorrow.”

I agree.

Do you?

No. I don’t.
At all.

True….I experienced this with both sides of my family. Some made it out and some didn’t. My dad and brother being a couple of them. Hard to watch people do this to themselves.

Oh…..another great photo on header :))

Yes, I do agree Larry. Alcohol abuse temporarily masks problems and replaces them with borrowed happiness. Alcohol regularly destroys careers, ruins relationships and robs people of real long term happiness.

Thanks for the reminder and for having the courage to discuss it on this forum.

May be Yes, may be No. No in the sense that u get to maximise yo hours for the day, shed off some stress and disconnect from a hectic work schedule- or even have some work life balance. Yes in the sense that u drink today, then spend some hours of the following day nursing a hangover and killing some hours that wud be of today’s

I agree

When I think of all the “Good Decisions” I have made, having a drink was not one of them.

Jeff Aili

Agreed!

Good morning, Larry! I think it’s a little more grey than that. Alcohol is a depressant and has several benefits. I think it depends on how you use it 😉

Michael Fortenberry

I agree 100%

I just spent a Sunday at a “Sober Curious” event in NYC and I couldn’t agree more. Every time you drink you cover up part of who you really are and it’s impossible to be your best self if you’re not not completely whole.

Lee Tracy

I agree. And the interest paid is negative health effects and a lesser version of your perfect self during and the day(s) after alcohol consumption.

Drinking with a meal, drinking in moderation is good. Drinking excessively is bad

Jeff Warcholik

I agree and it gives you the ability to make yourself look just like the picture, you know, a donkey. Not to mention the list of problems it causes. Not sure that could ever be good.

John

That may be true, but sometimes 2 half bad days are better than one full crap fest…
My Father once told me that the day you missed work because of drinking, you should stop. Until that happens, I guess it’s not a problem….

Hi Larry

I do agree and I have not had any alcohol in over a year. I live a much better life with NO compromise. Life is great!

And then regretting it the day after

Josh Lowe

Had to go back and find this to send to my brother today. It stuck with me and I totally agree. He and I are hating life today after a night of drinking last night while on vacation ?
