Will your business work without you?

Larry Janesky: Think Daily

No? Then it’s more of a job you own, rather than a business. If it won’t work without you showing up, then it’s not worth anything to anyone else.

Right?

What do you have to do to make it work without you?

Christie L. Drzayich

TRUST that we have trained our employees and given them all of the tools they need to be the best at their positions.

Rainer Heufers

How does that apply to a start-up? Where is the point when the company should work without you?

Bruce

The question is how well will your business work without you being there! What happens when your not there opposed when your there.
Are there dedicated people? Can you trust everyone all the time?

For some it’s great i am sure. For some they could end up losing everything.

Training is key. Employees like to be empowered. But some need more training than others with thinking outside the box or more “common” sense problem solving.

Larry,

Good blog question! Sheila and I are putting your question to the test for the 2nd time!! My 1st back surgery 11/20/15 followed by a Staph infection 12/15/15 (clean out staph) AND 6 weeks of IV antibiotics (through a pic line), followed by 6+ months of oral antibiotics. ABOUT 11-12 months healthy……..AND the business grew and grew and grew!!!!

NOW, after having my 2nd back surgery March 21 and 22 (that’s right a10 hour surgery over 2 days)!! Pain like you wouldn’t believe, if fact the pain management person comes in after surgery is over and says something like, “we can’t control all your pain (with 2 epidurals and a pain pump for dilaud)….he was right! Now, a little over 2 weeks post surgery we are at the University of Kentucky to have my 50 to 100 staples removed from my back surgery (my Mother said having 3 or 4 staples removed from her foot was painful……so I think 50 to 100 would be VERY PAINFUL)! So here we go against ( if you want to see the pictures of my staples and before and after X-rays ….ASK Lou Beamer)!
Anyway, before surgery and in our 1st quarter of business (October 1 through January 31, again we were up again (significantly)!
Go figure, it’s like Cousin Eddie’s daughter in the Christmas Vacation movie, she was kicked in the head and goes cross-eyed and falls down a well and back to normal!

BUT, I will say we were up 100% in Bed Bug work last year, we have 4 exceptional Bed Bug Techs with some helpers, our Radon work is up at least 50% and our recurring revenue (pest control, Mosquito control, seasonal work, annual termite warranties)! are growing annually!!

So is everything perfect, can we walk away for an extended period of time, maybe not with a few calls, texts or emails……..BUT, we are pretty close!
