"Work" – an action, not a place.

Larry Janesky: Think Daily

As the owner of my business, I find that if I want to work on a meaningful project, do some careful analysis and clear thinking and decision making, I have to get away from the office.  In the office there are too many people who want to chat, interrupt me “for just a minute”, and things to interact with.  This is all important for a leader of course, but not a good place to focus or concentrate.

I have another place I go to get things done (often in the morning).  A desk where there is nobody else but me.  A place I can bring the “to do/read/consider folder”, and get through it smoothly and much faster, and feel good about it. I can get more done at both places as a result.

Do you have that second quiet place where you work?

Dan Weise

I go to the office when no one is there, either early in the morning or on the weekends.

I have a desk in my home office that I go to in the quiet hours of the early morning before my family is awake or in the evening after they are asleep that is ideal for this. The environment is great for thinking and planning.

You are so right (as usual!) on this one, Larry. Every leader needs a “man cave” (or “woman cave” as the case may be)to review opportunities unbothered by the day-to-day!
Happy Holidays!

Yes! I will get into the office early before anyone arrives – or if it is a major project, I will spend a day at home away from the office to work on it.

Yes…I love the time at my home office between 6:30 am and 8:30 am. It involves a chapter of scripture reading, a short prayer and then 2 hrs of getting my day organized before leads are ran. It also allows me time to tie up loose ends without distractions.

Mine is getting up at 430 ,having my coffee and on the couch I sit and think and read and brain storm and take notes :)) The other place is early hours in the office

I go to a particular park to write and read. The writing is about everything from business to spiritual. The reading is only spiritual. Then I have my office at my house. Upstairs and I don’t have any kids yet so… so far, I’m good.

It seems that everyone likes and needs their privacy so they can think clearly. A quiet place unfortunately is only a dream to most.
