We can’t go around giving knee jerk reactions when we like something or don’t like it depending on the mood we are in or what we are trying to do at the moment. We need principles to live by in our society and with ourselves.
With strong principles, we can plan strategies and actions, or make them up on the fly, without making a mess to clean up later. Principles win over tactics everytime.
What are some of the principles you carry with you in your daily life?
Hi Larry,
This is another great inspiration for me as, all to often now days, we see a ‘lack of principles’ blasting over ‘strong good principles’. It is useful to hear the reassurance that ‘strong good principles’ are what makes us better people and the world a better place.
I do my very best to live by the Scout principles as proudly shown at the entrance to your office.
For anyone that does not know these listen to Larry’s moving track “On My Honor” on his CD “Masterpiece”. Cheers.
Love your family and lead by example !!! Respect and honor your parents and your children. Above all else love and honor yourself first and life will flow like a river ….
Be true to yourself then you can be true to others
Tomorrow is today
Treat others as you would yourself
Be creative today and and always
Don’t do what is right, do what is generous.
My main Business principle, actions must be in this order.
1. Is it good for the customer?
2. Is it good for the employee?
3. Is it good for the company?
If you have three yes answers, the action is a good one.
As a Unitarian, I would like to share our seven principles- this is what Unitarianism is all about:
The inherent worth and dignity of every person;
Justice, equity and compassion in human relations;
Acceptance of one another and encouragement to spiritual growth in our congregations;
A free and responsible search for truth and meaning;
The right of conscience and the use of the democratic process within our congregations and in society at large;
The goal of world community with peace, liberty, and justice for all;
Respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part.
